What are my financing options?
Advantage Roofing recommends KeyBank for your financing needs. They have options such as no interest with payments, low APR credit cards, home equity loans and home improvement programs – it all depends on what you are interested in as a homeowner. Can I pay for my project with a credit card?
Yes, we accept all major credit cards. If necessary, we can take your information over the phone and mail you a copy of your receipt for your records.
What does your workmanship warranty cover?
We offer a lifetime workmanship warranty. This warranty will cover any workmanship mistakes we made on your project, as well as any inside damage that may have been due to the mistake.
Also, the warranty is transferable. This means, if you sell your home within the first 10 years of the warranty period, it WILL transfer to the new owner of the home. If the home is then sold again, the same applies. There is no limit on these transfers within the 10 year period.
Do I need to be home during installation?
When replacing your roof you do not have to be home during installation. In fact, because of the noise level, most people prefer to be out of the house.
With replacement windows, we do need you home during installation. The windows are actually installed from inside, so we will need access throughout the house.
Will I be contacted before the job starts?
Yes, we will contact you the day before your home project begins. This will allow you to move vehicles out of the driveway if necessary and take down pictures or knickknacks that may vibrate and fall. If you need a longer notification time, please tell your estimator or call the office.
How quickly can you get to my project?
Scheduling production varies throughout the year. We can usually get to your project within 2-3 weeks of signing the paper work. However, if you have an immediate need we can sometimes work you into an earlier installation date.
Gutter FAQs
Do you have seamless gutters?
Yes, we do seamless gutters. Our supply house has a gutter machine on a truck that comes to our job sites and produces custom fit gutter lengths for your home. They can produce a seamless gutter up to 200ft in length. The gutters are heavy gauge aluminum and come in a variety of colors.
Roofing FAQs
How do I know I need a new roof?
If you are not sure if you need a new roof a good starting point is to determine the age of the shingle. Most shingles have a life expectancy of 18-25 years. One of the first signs of a failing roof is granule loss, so check for shingle granule deposits coming out of your downspouts and gutters. Another good rule of thumb is to look for lifted or missing shingles. This is usually a sign the adhesive has dried and the roof is close to failure. If in doubt request a free inspection, sooner rather than later.
What is the black stuff on my shingles?
The black stain on your shingles is an airborne algae. It starts as a small streak and can spread across your entire roof. Although it is mostly an eye sore, it can also shorten the life of your shingles. There are a few products on the market used to clean the algae off your shingles, but these are mostly ineffective and the algae returns in a year or two. Your best option may be to replace your shingles. New shingles are manufactured with an algae inhibitor that lasts up to 15 years.
When selling my home, what is the best shingle option?
Most people think when selling their home they should use the least expensive shingle as possible. Their idea is they won’t be living there much longer, so why increase the cost of the roof. Although this may seem logical, it is usually not the right choice.
First impressions are crucial when selling your home. Upgrading to a dimensional shingle adds instant curb appeal and charm to your home. You also run the risk of your neighbors upgrading their shingles, leaving the look of your home dated or less appealing.
What are the advantages of choosing a premium shingle?
There are a few advantages to think about when debating the choice of a premium shingle. One, most premium shingles start at a 50 year warranty and go all the way to a lifetime warranty. This means you may never have to go through the hassle of replacing your roof again.
Also, premium shingles are heavier and have a higher, 130mph, wind resistance. If you live in a high wind area, this may be your best option for a problem free roof.
Lastly, most shingle manufacturers increase the tones and textures with premium shingles. The dark shadow lines and unique styles truly mimic the look of wood shake and slate roofing.
What do I look for if I think I have wind damage?
The first thing to look for if you think you have wind damage is missing or raised shingles. Another clue is deep creased lines across your shingle. This usually means the shingle was lifted by the wind, folded back, and then flopped back into place. Also check the adhesive strips. Shingles are made to adhere to one another. If wind has damaged your adhesive strips you will be able to lift your shingles up with little or no resistance.

Does a dark roof make my house hotter?
We have had many people ask over the years if a dark roof makes their house hotter. A study has shown that a totally white shingle made the attic temperature about 10 degrees cooler than a totally black shingle. However, when they compared the other shades (light & dark grays and browns) they found very little difference. Our advice is to choose the color you like. You are going to have to live with it for a long time.
How long does it take for a typical roof to be completed?
If the weather cooperates, a typical roof can be completed in 1 to 2 days. However, extremely large or complicated roofs may take a bit longer. Your estimator will give you a good idea of how long your roof will take to complete.
