How to prepare for my Roof Installation?

Aug 21, 2014

Hi There! Tim Mallory, owner of Advantage Roofing. We are a Cincinnati roofing company specializing in residential roofing. We get a lot of great questions from homeowners and we think if one homeowner is asking the question, many more are thinking it. So we have decided to take these questions and answer them in our blog so we can share it with other homeowners.

Question: What should I do to prepare for my roofing day?

  • Clear the drive way and garage of cars.
  • Take down any breakables/pictures/knick knacks from the walls/shelves/mantel. There is a vibration that occurs when we are removing and installing your roof which could cause items to fall and get damaged.
  • Make sure there is a working outside electric outlet
  • If we are removing a skylight, put an old sheet/drop cloth on the floor below skylight to catch small debris.
  • If you are not going to be home, please provide us with a work/cell phone number in case we need to contact you during installation.
  • A small amount of shingle granules will likely get in your attic. If you have valuables stored uncovered in your attic (pictures/wedding dress) please cover with drop cloth or sheet.
  • Don’t hesitate to ask questions. Good communication goes a long way toward a successful, stress free roof installation project.
